Booking

A Fire Was in My Head and June Recital are available for booking at colleges and theatres. Technical requirements follow. Additional questions, including those related to fees and availablity should be sent by e-mail to info@EudoraWeltyOnstage.

Technical Requirements

FOR BOTH PERFORMANCES:

1)
UPRIGHT PIANO or baby grand, tuned.

2) MICROPHONE detachable from a stand and able to be carried by the actress. We prefer a wireless handheld. Depending on acoustics an additional wirelss lavalier microphone may be necessary.

3) SOUND SYSTEM. There needs to be a working sound system with adjustable volume so the actress’s voice may be heard above the piano. There should be at least two speakers.

4) COMPACT DISC PLAYER

Note: Sound levels from the microphone need to balanced during performance between the piano and the actress’s voice. It is important to keep the voice intimate, not shouting to override the music.

FOR A FIRE WAS IN MY HEAD ONLY:

a) HOUR AND A HALF SET UP with sound equipment

b) IF LIGHTING is desired we prefer a spotlight with an operator and a cyclorama capable of changing color. Lighting is not necessary.

c) Running time for a Fire Was in My Head is 60 minutes.

FOR JUNE RECITAL ONLY:

a) A BATTEN on which to dead hang two lightweight poles for a cotton curtain backdrop.

b) AN ASSISTANT for technical work during set up, performance, and taking down of the show.

c) 3 HOURS PREPARATION onstage minimum, prior to an hour before performance.

d) BARE STAGE 10’ deep minimum. June Recital has been performed on the set of other plays, when appropriate or neutral. i.e. Our Town, A Streetcar Named Desire, Painting Churches.

e) Running time for June Recital is 75 minutes.

ON THE ROAD :

THREE PEOPLE travel for performances of June Recital: Brenda Currin, a pianist, and a stage manager, responsible for supervising the setting up of the stage, lights and sound.

THREE ROOMS
are needed for the nights before and after a performance.
